The Argyll Hotel in Bellochantuy has a reputation for being one of the most haunted hotels in the Highlands. It's said that a guest awoke to the sounds of quiet laughter and rummaging in their room. As they sat up, they spotted a black-clad figure who vanished when the light was switched on. The guest searched the room but found no one there. After returning to bed, they watched several small balls of light flit around the room, adding to the eerie atmosphere.

Interestingly, this wasn't an isolated incident. Another visitor to the hotel during the late 1990s reported seeing a dark figure walking around their room before vanishing. The nephew of the hotel's former owners also believed the site to be haunted, lending credence to the idea that there's more to the Argyll Hotel than meets the eye. These sightings, which took place in the late 1990s and in 2021, suggest that the hotel's ghostly activity is a recurring phenomenon.
