Madingley Hall, Madingley

Madingley Hall has been the site of numerous paranormal sightings over the years. Visitors and staff have reported seeing the ghost of Ursula Hynde, the wife of the man who built the house in 1543. According to legend, Ursula is seen walking between the hall and the site of a demolished church on Christmas Eve, a room in the hall which contains fittings from that church. Her distress is said to stem from her son's decision to rip down the church of St Ethelreda for stone and timber during the dissolution of the monasteries.
