Truro Friar Ghost
The William the Forth Public House in Truro is built on the site of a former friary and it seems the former occupants just wont leave. Guests and staff have reported strange occurrences that suggest the premises is still home to some very unwelcome visitors. With a history dating back to the days of the friary, its little wonder that some say the site is haunted by the ghost of a friar.
Historical records show that the public house stands on the site of a long demolished friary. It is thought that the building work for the current public house uncovered the remnants of the old friary and perhaps disturbed the rest of its former inhabitants. Since then numerous people have experienced unexplained events whilst in the public house. The nature of these events suggests that the ghostly inhabitants are former friars who are reluctant to vacate the premises.
