Heage House Hauntings

Heage House, Heage, Derbyshire Apparition Victorian

Heage House in Derbyshire has a dark history tied to its former occupant, George Pole, an evil man known for brutally beating his wife until she slowly wasted away. Some accounts suggest she may have taken her own life. Despite building the local church in an attempt to atone for his sins, Pole's malevolent spirit persisted, manifesting in various forms including a foal and a large crow. His ghostly apparitions were seen multiple times before finally being laid to rest by a Parson.

Years after George Pole's spirit was said to have been laid, another phantom began haunting Heage House. Mrs Argile, who died in 1927, was reportedly seen by a serving girl a few years later. Tragically, the serving girl herself died just six weeks after encountering Mrs Argile's ghost. This series of events has contributed to Heage House's reputation as a site of paranormal activity.

Historical Context

The house dates back to a time when George Pole lived, a man with a notorious reputation for cruelty.
