Phantom Horse and Cart
Ladybower Reservoir in Derbyshire is home to a rather unusual ghostly sighting. A motorcyclist had a close encounter with a phantom horse and cart on the A6013 road that runs alongside the reservoir. The cyclist saw a horse pulling a cart with a high back and sides being led by a man holding a large whip. As the cyclist slowed down to overtake the cart, he was momentarily blinded by an approaching car. When his vision returned to normal, the cart had vanished into thin air.
This haunting manifestation is believed to have occurred sometime in the mid twentieth century. The location of the sighting is significant, as the reservoir was constructed in the 1940s and is a relatively modern structure. The appearance of the horse and cart, led by a man with a whip, could be linked to the area's history as a rural landscape before the reservoir was built. It's possible that the ghostly apparition is a manifestation of the area's past, a spectral echo of a bygone era.
