RAF Turnhouse Poltergeist

RAF Turnhouse, Edinburgh, Edinburgh Poltergeist World War II

RAF Turnhouse, now known as Edinburgh Airport, has a fascinating ghost story attached to it. They say that workers at the MOD transport section would often greet a friendly phantom known as Fred. It was a peculiar ritual, really - if they didn't say hello, Fred would get a bit mischievous, opening lockers and moving things around. This strange behaviour was witnessed by many during the 1980s and 1990s.

The story of Fred dates back to World War II, when he was allegedly a worker at the site. According to legend, Fred met his untimely demise after walking into a propeller. His ghostly form, clad in a grey RAF uniform, was first spotted in 1974. A witness reported seeing the young man's ghost walk over to them and touch their forehead before vanishing into thin air. It's thought that Fred's spirit lingered on, seeking acknowledgement from the living.

Historical Context

RAF Turnhouse was operational during World War II and the Cold War.
