Buttoncap Ghost Carrickfergus
Carrickfergus Castle, Carrickfergus
Carrickfergus Castle stands proudly on the shores of Belfast Lough, its stone walls bearing witness to centuries of history. Among its many tales of woe and tragedy is that of a soldier known affectionately as Buttoncap, named for the large button on his headdress. This spooky soldier is said to haunt a small area near an old well within the castle grounds. Some claim he can be found in the well itself, a fittingly eerie location for a ghost with a tragic past.
