Ghostly Manor House Party

Area near Knighton Gorges, Downend, Islewight Environmental Victorian

Deep in the countryside of Islewight, near the stunning Knighton Gorges, a rather unusual ghostly sighting has been reported for many years. The location, known as Downend, is said to play host to a spectral manor house, complete with a party in full swing visible through its windows. However, there's a twist - the house was actually demolished many years ago. Locals have grown accustomed to the strange sight, but it still manages to unsettle the occasional traveller who stumbles upon it.

Historical records are scarce, but it's believed that the manor house was once a grand estate, possibly dating back to the Victorian era. Although the house itself is long gone, the ghostly apparition persists, with reports of music drifting from the site even when the house isn't visible. Adding to the mystique is the annual appearance of a large black knight on horseback, seen riding through the area on December 31st. It's unclear whether these sightings are connected, but they contribute to the area's reputation as a hub of paranormal activity.

Historical Context

The site may have been a Victorian estate, but records are limited.
