St Botolph's Church in Skidbrooke, Lincolnshire, is home to a rather intriguing haunting. The church is said to be haunted by phantom monks, a presence that has captured the imagination of many. In the summer of 2003, this eerie phenomenon was reportedly experienced by numerous individuals. Although the Bassetlaw Ghost Research Group did not encounter anyone who had previously lived a monastic lifestyle when they visited in 2004, they did manage to capture some compelling evidence. Their night vision cameras picked up flying 'rods', which were likely insects but still a fascinating find.

Manor House, Saltfleet

The Manor House in Saltfleet, Lincolnshire, is said to be haunted by the ghost of Jane Hardy, a young woman who met a tragic end. According to local folklore, Jane married Robert Fox, the son of the lord of the manor, in 1673. But their happiness was short-lived, as Robert's darker side soon emerged. He murdered Jane, and in a bizarre twist, her ghost was blamed for a missing piglet discovered in a sealed room. It's said that Jane's spirit was so restless that it took the blame for the misfortune.

County councillor Robert Palmer reported seeing a round white light hovering near the area around the time of the incident, adding to the mystery.

Grimoldby's rural landscape was the backdrop for a bizarre encounter on a chilly November evening in 1961. A lone witness, walking back to the nearby RAF base after a visit to the local chip shop, witnessed a steam engine hauling a coal wagon and three coaches pass by the level crossing. The train was eerily silent, its only illumination a dim glow from the fire on the footplate, as it sped by in total darkness. The witness's reaction was one of confusion and curiosity, but when they mentioned the incident back at the base, they were met with scepticism - the railway track had been pulled up, they were told, and they must have been dreaming. The following morning, the witness visited the site and was shocked to find that the track was indeed gone.

A grief-stricken husband, who lost his wife in West Deeping, Lincolnshire, took his own life by jumping from this very bridge and being hit by a train from London. It's said that on the anniversary of his death, at 17:50h, the incident is reenacted, leaving witnesses in shock.

On two separate occasions, police officers reported seeing a mysterious creature that has left many scratching their heads. The creature was described as being similar in size to a squirrel, with a dark brown colour and a long, straight, upright tail. It's not every day you hear of a monkey being spotted in rural Lincolnshire, so it's no wonder this has caused quite a stir.
