Kennington Loop Ghostly Train

Kennington Loop, SE11, London Apparition Victorian

Deep in the heart of London, the Kennington Loop, a railway tunnel in the south of the city, has been the site of a bizarre and unexplained phenomenon. Train drivers sitting in the dark loop tunnel have reported hearing the connecting carriage doors open and close as if someone is moving from the rear of the train towards the driving compartment. This eerie occurrence has been happening since the 1980s and has left many to wonder if the loop is haunted by a mischievous spirit.

The Kennington Loop has a long history dating back to the Victorian era, a time when the railways were being rapidly expanded across the UK. It's possible that the loop's history is connected to the reported haunting, perhaps a former employee or passenger met an untimely demise within the tunnel. What we do know is that at least two train drivers have experienced this strange event, which has been documented as a haunting manifestation. Passengers disembark at Kennington and the carriages are checked prior to trains turning in the loop, making it all the more strange that drivers have reported hearing the doors open and close.

Historical Context

The Kennington Loop was built during the Victorian era as part of the railway expansion in the UK.
