Deep in the heart of London, on the Northern Line into St Paul's tube station, a commuter had a series of unsettling encounters with a mysterious girl. Over four consecutive days, he sat opposite her on an early train, her long black hair covering her face, with only the tip of her nose visible. It wasnt until the fourth day, as he left the carriage, that he realised she was looking straight at him. The commuter never saw the girl again but was convinced that she was a ghost.

Lyric Theatre, WC2

The Lyric Theatre on Shaftesbury Avenue has a long history of entertaining Londoners, but its grandeur and charm are not just limited to the stage. This theatre has a ghostly resident, a female usherette who was tragically killed during World War I. Her spirit is said to roam the aisles, a reminder of the theatre's dark past. The Lyric Theatre has been a popular venue for over a century, but in 1972, people started reporting sightings of this ghostly figure.

Holy Trinity church, W6

Holy Trinity church in London's Brook Green area has been home to a rather unexpected resident - a ghostly monk. It was here, back in the late 19th century, that Father White and his staff began spotting a phantom monk wandering into the church. On more than one occasion, the Father himself claimed to have seen this apparition, which was also witnessed by his servant and curates. The fact that multiple people reported seeing this ghostly figure lends credibility to the sightings, leaving us to wonder what this monk might be doing here.

36 Blythe Road, W14

Located in the heart of London, 36 Blythe Road was once the site of a dramatic and intriguing confrontation between two of the most influential occultists of the 20th century. On 19 April 1900, W B Yeats faced off against Aleister Crowley in this very building, which was then a temple of the Golden Dawn society. Crowley, dressed in a kilt and wearing a black mask of Osiris, brandished a dagger and began reciting spells, prompting Yeats to take action.

Bush Theatre, SE13

The Bush Theatre in Shepherd's Bush has a long history of entertaining audiences, but it's also home to a rather famous ghost. Dylan Thomas, the renowned Welsh poet and playwright, was known to frequent this very theatre, enjoying a drink or two and some lively company. As a former BBC worker, Thomas was no stranger to the world of entertainment, and it's said that his spirit still roams these halls, perhaps reliving old times or inspiring new generations of performers.

Hammersmith Churchyard and Black Lion Lane area, W4

Hammersmith Churchyard, tucked away in west London, is said to be haunted by the eerie apparition known as the White Figure. This ghostly entity was blamed for the death of a local woman back in 1804, who collapsed and died just hours after catching a glimpse of the spectre. The incident sparked a frantic hunt for the spook, which unfortunately ended in tragedy when a local man was mistakenly shot, simply because he was wearing white clothing. It's little wonder that the ghost sightings suddenly trailed off soon after.
