The Lady's Handprint Ghost

Manse used by the RAF, Lossiemouth, Moray Unknown Late 19th or Early 20th Century

Lossiemouth's eerie past comes alive in a chilling tale of love, loss, and lingering presence. A heartbroken woman, desperate to reconnect with her loved ones, found herself locked out of the manse. In a tragic turn of events, she scaled the walls, reached the balcony, and froze to death, her hand pressed against a pane of glass. The imprint of her hand remained, a haunting reminder of her untimely demise. Even as the RAF took over the site, the legend lived on, with the glass pane being removed, only to be replaced later, albeit upside down.

Historical records indicate that the manse, now used by the RAF, has undergone significant changes over the years. The original glass pane bearing the lady's handprint was taken away, but when it was put back, it was positioned with the handprint facing downwards. Interestingly, one of the finger marks had vanished, adding to the enigma. While details of the lady's identity and the exact circumstances of her death remain scarce, her ghostly handprint continues to fascinate and unsettle those who hear her story.
