Mischievous Poltergeist of White Hart

White Hart Inn Inn, Bristol, Somerset Poltergeist Modern

The White Hart Inn on Lower Maudlin Street in Bristol has a reputation for being one of the city's most haunted locations. This historic inn has been home to a particularly mischievous poltergeist, known as Aloysius, which was named by the wife of a former landlord. The entity was known to cause trouble by throwing small items around the bedroom and smashing plates in the kitchen. It seems that Aloysius had a bit of a schedule, becoming active for a three to four week period before falling silent again for a while.

Situated in the heart of Bristol, the White Hart Inn has a long history dating back several centuries. The poltergeist activity, which was reported to have taken place in the twentieth century, may have been disturbed when alterations were being made to the building. The fact that the entity was given a name by the landlord's wife suggests that it was a regular occurrence and not just a one-off event. While we dont know much about the history of the inn prior to the reported haunting, it is clear that Aloysius was a force to be reckoned with during its active periods.
