Adelphi Theatre Ghost
The Adelphi theatre in Attercliffe, Sheffield, has a reputation for being one of the most haunted theatres in the UK. Located on Wellington Street, this former cinema turned nightclub has been the site of numerous paranormal occurrences. In the late twentieth century, a member of the Sheffield Paranormal Society and other witnesses reported strange happenings in the former projection room. They heard a series of bangs, experienced icy cold temperatures, and saw a twitching curtain. One witness even felt a compression on her chest. It's said that a former projectionist, who loved his job, may have never left the premises.
Historically, the Adelphi theatre has had its fair share of tragic events. It's rumoured that several people died in a fight at the theatre in the distant past. More recently, cleaners have reported being hit by unseen hands while working in the toilets. Two security guards even experienced something so unsettling that they never returned to work. The projection room, where most of the paranormal activity has been reported, is said to be the former domain of the beloved projectionist. It's possible that his spirit still lingers, fondly attached to the old cinema equipment.
