Mysterious Wolf Sighting

Polkemmet Country Park, Whitburn, West Lothian Cryptozoology Modern

Polkemmet Country Park in Whitburn was the scene of a bizarre encounter on 25 August 2009. Keith McDowell reported seeing a creature that was roughly the size of an Alsatian, with a striking silver coat and a distinctive black streak running along its back. The animal had a bushy tail and was circling a group of calves in a field. Its behaviour seemed predatory, but before it could be approached, the creature suddenly took off, running into the nearby woods of the country park. The sighting lasted only a few minutes, but it left a lasting impression on McDowell.

The history of Polkemmet Country Park dates back to the 18th century, and it's possible that the wolf sighting is linked to the local folklore and wildlife. While there have been no other documented sightings of a similar creature in the area, the park's rural setting and proximity to farmland make it a plausible location for a wild animal to be spotted. The witness, Keith McDowell, described the creature as being unlike any known animal in the area, which has sparked interest among cryptozoology enthusiasts. The incident remains unexplained, and the park's management has not reported any further sightings.

Historical Context

The country park has been a rural area for centuries.
