Wood End Road, Cranfield

Wood End Road in Cranfield is home to a rather gruesome and intriguing haunting. Lady Snagge, a local noblewoman, met her untimely demise here many years ago. While riding her horse, she was brutally decapitated by a thin piece of rope pulled across the road by robbers. They didn't stop at that; they also plundered her body, leaving her lifeless and headless on the ground. It's said that Snagge's ghost still rides these roads, sometimes with her head intact and sometimes without, reliving her final terrifying moments.

Road between Marston Moretaine and Milton Keynes, Salford

On a dark summer evening in July 2009, a driver was heading back to his girlfriend's home when he encountered a terrifying sight. As he turned a corner on the road between Marston Moretaine and Milton Keynes, he had to brake sharply to avoid hitting a figure standing right in front of him. The figure was unlike anything he had ever seen before - it had a featureless face, no legs, and was dressed in a scarlet jacket and a white or cream-coloured tunic stained with blood. Its black hair was styled in a Cavalier-like fashion, adding to the eerie and old-world feel of the apparition. The driver watched in horror as the legless man moved across the road and vanished into the bushes.

Gypsy Lane, Aspley Guise

Gypsy Lane in Aspley Guise is a rural road with a dark history. On a September evening in 2008 a runner was making his way along this stretch when he spotted a dark figure about 100 metres ahead. As he drew closer the figure simply vanished into thin air. The witness was left shaken by the encounter. Interestingly a friend of the witness claimed his uncle had previously seen a phantom woman in the same area suggesting a possible connection between the two sightings.

Buttercup Lane, Cranfield

Buttercup Lane in Cranfield, Bedfordshire, is home to a rather bizarre and unexplained phenomenon. In 1969, two men were walking along this very lane when they witnessed something that would stay with them for a lifetime.
