Deep in the heart of Thirlmere forest, a Mountain Leader had a rather unexpected encounter while guiding a group of teenagers on a DofE Gold expedition. As he cut through the forest to meet up with them, he stumbled upon a clearing and was face to face with a majestic tan-coloured Mountain Lion. For about a minute, the man and the lion locked eyes, before the lion calmly turned and walked into the trees. Interestingly, the lion was headed in the direction the leader wanted to go, so he decided to retrace his steps and take a detour through the forest instead.
This remarkable sighting took place in August 2018 and was reported by the Mountain Leader himself. While there's no concrete evidence to suggest that the Mountain Lion was a paranormal entity, the unusual nature of the encounter has sparked interest among locals and paranormal enthusiasts alike. It's worth noting that Mountain Lions are not native to the UK, which adds to the mystique of this encounter.
