Lady in Grey Haunting
Tardebigge Country Club in Herefordshire has a reputation for being one of the most haunted country clubs in the UK. The main bar is said to be haunted by a mysterious cowled woman in grey, who has been described by one member of staff as beautiful and harmless. However, the same bar has also been plagued by a mischievous poltergeist that has been known to break ashtrays, tear down decorations, and rock tables and chairs. It's not just the bar that's said to be haunted - the ballroom is also home to a phantom that's rumoured to be quite frightening, although no description of this entity has been forthcoming.
The country club was once part of the historic Hewell Grange estate, which dates back to the Victorian era. It's possible that the hauntings are connected to the estate's rich history. In 1962, staff and visitors began reporting strange occurrences in the main bar, including sightings of the Lady in Grey. While the poltergeist activity in the bar was certainly causing some concern, the Lady in Grey was seen as a benign presence. Despite the many reported sightings, there's no clear explanation for the hauntings - although it's possible that the country club's history and former use as part of the Hewell Grange estate may hold some clues.
