Fleetwood Ghostly Nurse

Unnamed road in the town, Fleetwood, Lancashire Apparition Early 20th century

Fleetwood's streets can be eerily quiet at night, but for one driver, a chance encounter with a ghostly nurse turned a routine journey into a terrifying experience. Travelling with her husband and a chauffeur, Therese watched in horror as a woman in grey ran in front of her car. The nurse was knocked down, and when all three people jumped out of the car to help her, she had vanished into thin air. This wasnt a one-off sighting either - Therese saw the ghostly woman several more times after that event, in different places around town.

The story takes a darker turn when we consider the possible reasons behind these sightings. Seeking help, Therese met a spiritualist who recommended that she return a recently purchased second-hand writing desk. Apparently, it belonged to a nurse who had committed suicide after murdering a patient. This dark history seemed to be the key to unlocking the mystery, as the apparition departed soon after the desk was returned. Its unclear what actually happened all those years ago, but one thing is certain - this ghostly nurse has left an indelible mark on the town of Fleetwood.

Historical Context

The early 20th century saw significant growth in Fleetwood, with the town becoming a popular seaside resort.
