In the sleepy Oxfordshire village of Little Milton, a strange phenomenon has been observed on more than one occasion. A driver heading towards the village spotted a cyclist who suddenly vanished into thin air. The driver stopped to see if the cyclist had fallen off their bike but could find no one. This bizarre incident was not a one-off, as nine years later, the same driver was travelling with their son when they both witnessed a cyclist disappear in the same neighbourhood. Despite a thorough search, no trace of the cyclist was found.

And remarkably, just a few days later, the rector met his maker, passing away mid-sermon.

A woman, who had stopped her car to answer her mobile phone, was startled by a large black cat that crossed the road in front of her. The cat stood an astonishing three feet high and had a long black tail that drooped downwards. The whole sighting lasted for around five seconds, leaving the witness to wonder if she had really seen what she thought she had.

A4074 / A423, Nuneham Courtenay

Nuneham Courtenay, a sleepy village in Oxfordshire, is home to a rather bizarre ghost story. On a chilly winter's evening in mid December, 1969 or 1970, a mother and daughter driving along the A4074 / A423 were startled when a man stepped out from behind a fence on the right-hand side of the road. The sudden appearance of this tall, middle-aged man with an early twentieth century hairstyle was alarming enough, but what happened next was even more astonishing. The man looked quite solid, but for reasons that remain a mystery, he vanished into thin air without leaving any trace.

Fields around the village, Sandford on Thames

Sandford on Thames is a tranquil village on the outskirts of Oxford, but on Christmas Eve, its peaceful fields are disrupted by a terrifying spectacle. A coach, pulled by four horses, careens at breakneck speed through the countryside, driven by a headless horseman. This ghostly carriage is said to appear every year on the night before Christmas, sending shivers down the spines of anyone unfortunate enough to witness it.
