Molly's Ghostly Apparition
Burslem town centre in Staffordshire is home to a rather unusual ghostly apparition known as Molly with Pail. This restless spirit is said to have returned due to feelings of guilt over her own sins committed during life. According to reports, Molly would often be seen balancing a milk pail on her head, apologising to anyone she met. Her presence was a sorrowful one, driven by a desire to make amends for past wrongdoings.
The story of Molly's haunting takes a dramatic turn with the involvement of six holy men who attempted to exorcise her spirit. Tragically, three of these men lost their lives in the process. Although Molly was seemingly laid to rest, there were reports of a shade wearing black and white racing around near the churchyard in the 1970s. This could suggest that Molly's spirit did not remain at peace for long. The exact date of her haunting is unclear, but it is believed to have taken place sometime in the 1970s.
Burslem has a rich history dating back to the 18th century, with many old buildings and landmarks still standing today.
