Compasses Inn and River Tillingbourne Inn, Gomshall

The Compasses Inn in Gomshall is home to a mischievous ghost known as the Girl. She haunts the pub's garden, where she's often seen skipping through the grounds and across the nearby River Tillingbourne. Occasionally, she pops into the pub to play with the taps. Legend has it that the Girl drowned in the river after escaping a fire at the pub. Her antics have been reported by numerous visitors and staff members over the years.

Silent Pool, Shere

Silent Pool, a serene lake in the Surrey countryside, is said to be haunted by the ghost of a young woman named Emma. According to local legend, Emma was bathing naked in the pool when she saw Prince John approaching. Panicked, she swam further out into the water but unfortunately couldn't tread water and drowned. It's said that Emma sometimes returns to the area, perhaps reliving the tragic moments of her untimely death.

Chilworth's sleepy roads can be unsettling at the best of times, but one stretch in particular has earned a reputation for being downright eerie. It's here, between Rices Corner and Percy Arms, that a cyclist reported a harrowing encounter in the early hours of the morning back in 1960. As he pedalled home from work, he noticed another rider on a bike a short distance behind him. The second cyclist eventually caught up, and the witness called out when he realised the man had no lights on. But it was what happened next that would stay with him forever - the figure on the second bike turned his head, and the witness was shocked to see that the rider had no face, just a blurry area where features should have been.

Clandon House, West Clandon

Clandon House, a grand country estate in West Clandon, Surrey, is said to be haunted by the ghostly apparition of a woman dressed in a cream coloured satin dress. This eerie figure, reportedly named Elizabeth Knight by one source, is often seen walking the grounds surrounding the house, carrying a large hunting knife. According to accounts, she has been known to walk through the front wall of the house, appearing in every room before materialising through the back wall. Her presence is accompanied by that of a male ghost, recognised by his overgrown facial hair, and another female spirit dressed in black.
