Stanton St Bernard's sleepy village is home to a rather gruesome ghost story. The lady of the local manor house met a tragic end, or so it seemed. She was laid to rest in a coffin at the church, her fingers proudly displaying her precious ring collection. But little did anyone know, a corrupt sexton had other plans. He heard about the valuable jewellery and just couldn't resist. Under the cover of darkness, he snuck into the church and cut off the woman's fingers to get to the rings. However, the woman wasn't as dead as everyone thought - she was merely in a coma. As the sexton made his escape, she suddenly woke up, and he screamed and ran off, leaving her to make her way back home. Now, her ghost is said to haunt the manor house, blood spurting from her stumpy fingers.

Field near Silbury Hill, Avebury

In a field near Silbury Hill, Avebury, a bizarre encounter took place on July 6, 2009. An off-duty police officer was out and about when he stumbled upon what he thought were three forensic officers, tall with blonde hair, wearing white coveralls, walking around a newly formed crop circle. His curiosity got the better of him and he went to investigate, but as he reached the edge of the field, he was startled by a crackling electricity sound. The officer tried to enter the field, but at that moment, the men in white suddenly took off, running quicker than any human could possibly run.
