Brook Cottage, Moreton

Brook Cottage in Moreton, Oxfordshire, is home to a rather charming ghost known as Archibald. The occupier of the cottage reported seeing the figure of a man wearing a black cape and top hat in the 1960s. Initially startling, the occupier soon grew accustomed to Archibald's presence and even learned to live with his knocking. Over time, the ghost earned his nickname and became a familiar, if somewhat unexpected, housemate.

The Crown Public House, Pishill

The Crown Public House in Pishill, Oxfordshire, is home to a rather tragic and romantic ghost story. Father Dominique, a priest with a strong sense of loyalty and devotion, met his untimely demise while defending the name of the girl he loved. His spirit has been known to manifest in the upper parts of the building, where the sound of his movements can be heard by patrons and staff. Some claim to have caught a glimpse of his shadowy form, complete with a wide-brimmed hat, lurking in the corner of the bar.

Rector's Cottage library, Souldern

In the sleepy Oxfordshire village of Souldern, a remarkable encounter took place within the walls of Rector's Cottage. It's here, in the library, that a very unexpected visitor appeared to the rector. Mr Naylor, a gentleman who had been dead for five years, materialised and spent a most unusual ninety minutes chatting with the rector. Their conversation was apparently quite normal, until Mr Naylor dropped a bombshell: he told the rector that his own time was drawing to a close. And remarkably, just a few days later, the rector met his maker, passing away mid-sermon.

Country road, Great Milton

In the sleepy Oxfordshire village of Great Milton, a strange encounter took place on a country road on April 30, 2008. A woman, who had stopped her car to answer her mobile phone, was startled by a large black cat that crossed the road in front of her. The cat stood an astonishing three feet high and had a long black tail that drooped downwards. The whole sighting lasted for around five seconds, leaving the witness to wonder if she had really seen what she thought she had.

A329, Little Milton

In the sleepy Oxfordshire village of Little Milton, a strange phenomenon has been observed on more than one occasion. A driver heading towards the village spotted a cyclist who suddenly vanished into thin air. The driver stopped to see if the cyclist had fallen off their bike but could find no one. This bizarre incident was not a one-off, as nine years later, the same driver was travelling with their son when they both witnessed a cyclist disappear in the same neighbourhood. Despite a thorough search, no trace of the cyclist was found.

He didn't think much of it at first, but as he glanced back at her through his rear-view mirror, he realised she had vanished into thin air.
