Mysterious Bell Ringing
Outside Saint Chad's church in Burton upon Trent, a strange occurrence took place on 1 April 2012. Two bell ringers were waiting to ring the bells for the Sunday service when they heard the sound of a full set of eight bells peeling out. The next nearest church only had six bells, and the two churches in the area with eight bells both denied that their bells were being rung at the time. It was as if the bells of Saint Chad's church had come to life, ringing out without any physical cause.
This puzzling event happened on a spring morning, between 09:15h and 09:30h. The witnesses, both experienced bell ringers, were outside the church, waiting to begin their task. They were certain that the sound they heard was that of eight bells, a number that matched the bells of Saint Chad's church. Although the incident was not witnessed by anyone else, the two bell ringers were adamant about what they heard. The mystery deepens as there were no other churches in the immediate vicinity ringing eight bells at that time.
